Abstract: We will start by discussing three different conjectures in arithmetic geometry concerning the modular j-function: Zilber-Pink, modular Schanuel, and Existential Closedness. Even though these problems have different flavors (Diophantine geometry, the period conjecture of Grothendieck-André, and model theory, respectively), we will see that there are important connections between them. In the course of this, we will discuss some partial results and known cases of the above conjectures. This is joint work with Sebastián Herrero (PUCV).
