Homework 3, C&D

Due Friday July 23

I'm really sorry Jose!

Exercise 1

Evaluate the integrals 10 to 20 in Edwards and Penney section 5.2 (pp 294 in my copy)

Exercise 2

Problems 32 and 33 in the same page.

Exercise 3

Note that the derivative of arcsin and arccos only differ by a sign, does this mean that arccos and arcsin differ by a sign? can you find the exact relation between this functions?

Exercise 4

Compute the integrals 1, 2, 8, 22, 23, 29, and 36 in Edwards and Penney section 5.5 page 326

Exercise 5

Solve problem 42 in E&P section 5.6 page 336

Exercise 6

Solve problem 44 in E&P section 5.6 page 337

Exercise 7

Solve exercises 54 to 60 in E&P section 5.6 page 337

Exercise 8

Take a deep breath, count to ten... if you're reading this on Saturday night, just go out and think about this later... think about problem 65 in E&P 5.6, page 337, read if you want the answer in the book.... write a comment and don't bother Jose about this, just bring it to class.

Also, think about how would you explain to a classmate what is an Area. Personally, I know what's the area of a rectangle, maybe a triangle then... but a circle? if you didn't know that formula (as the Greeks didn't) do you really think you know what's an area, a length? mmmm....

Enjoy the weekend and avoid the nightmares!

Cheers,

R.
