Opening of post-doctoral positions at IMPA

The Instituto de Matemática Pura e Aplicada (IMPA) invites applications for four two-year post-doctoral positions in any field of mathematics, with a monthly take-home salary of R$ 7.500. Candidates must have obtained their PhD degrees after March 31, 2008. Those who wish to apply for one of these positions should submit an on-line application though the link below until january 31,2012. Approved candidates will have to spend at least one month each year visiting a Brazilian University or Research Institute outside IMPA. All expenses releted to these visits will be covered by IMPA. The decision will be announced around March 1, 2012. Accepted candidates should start their activities at IMPA between May 1st, 2012 and September 1st, 2012.Applications from candidates who have not yet finished their doctoral programs will be accepted, but they must defend their thesis before starting their activities at IMPA.

Required documents: research plan and Curriculum Vitae containing at least:

1) updated publication list;
2) date of birth;
3) institution where PhD was granted or defense date,
4) thesis title and advisor's name

Candidates should indicate during the on-line application process at the least three well known mathematicians who send recommendation letters
